Fairfield-Mabey has played a major part in the successful construction of many of the UK's landmark bridges including the First Severn Crossing in the 1960's, the Erskine and Avonmouth bridges in the 1970's, and the re-cabling of the Wye bridge in the 1980's.
In more recent times, the company has worked in partnership with a number of project teams to successfully deliver a series of bowstring arch, cable stayed and other iconic structures including the River Usk Crossing in Newport, South Wales; the River Bann Bridge in Toome, Northern Ireland; and the Chartist Bridge on the Sirhowy Enterprise Way in South Wales.
The key to the success of these projects has been Fairfield-Mabey's ability to seamlessly join each project team, significantly contributing to the Value Management process in order to minimise steelwork risks and costs whilst taking full account of the project specific stakeholder requirements.
